Flames of War Tournament
With the popularity of Flames of War dominating the 15mm WWII arena it is no surprise that for our inaugural year we major on this era and scale.
The aim is to have a very high standard of scenery on all tables with a slightly different approach to the scenarios and force construction to add some flavour. Five games over the two days see here for timings.

The Cauldron
Fighting Withdrawl
Roadblock
Trench Fight

The Army List
The format for the army lists will be 1750 point Late War from any current Official lists/books including Official PDF lists - which will be allowed if they are submitted citing source along with the Army List to the list checker.
However over and above the normal list a second list changing up to 500 points may be submitted as an additional list enabling you to choose between the two for any given battle. You must declare which list is being used prior to any side allocation etc. etc..
Lists must be submitted by 6 February 2010 to the list checker using the official template style and following the instructions detailed in the army ln the army list submission document. It is fundamental that you carefully read the instructions as the varied scenarios require more attention to detail in your submission in order that the list checkers/umpires can do their job effectively to give you the best experience possible at the event.
The documents are available as downloads below. Army list should be submitted to the list checker by clicking here using the Blank Submission form below.
The showing of your list to your opponent before a game is compulsory if asked for. If you have to keep troops back in reserve, then you should nominate before rolling, which units you are trying to bring on.

Rules and Scoring
Rules and Lists
1. In the first two rounds the draw will be Axis versus Allied where possible.
2. Subsequent draws will be done using a Swiss system.
3. The competition will use the latest version of the Flames of War rules latest errata from the Flames of War website and the “More again lessons from the front” clarifications.
4. The lists submitted must not exceed 1750 points.
5. Lists should be submitted two weeks prior to the event.
6. Once an army list has been submitted it may not be changed or altered other than to correct any errors. Players may only correct their errors by making reasonable changes to their list. It is not allowed to completely re-write the list, and the list checkers decision on this is final.
7. Please note that the competition is a dual list format, each player may only submit two lists. Any incorrect list discovered after a game has commenced (after set up dice have been rolled) must be corrected prior to deployment if spotted in time, and fully corrected in any case before the next match.
8. Players must fully define their troops as they are placed on table. Figures must provide a reasonably accurate representation of the troops they are trying to represent – they must not look deliberately misleading.
9. Table size is 6' x 4' or 4' x 4' for city and bocage tables.
10. Terrain will be provided by the organisers. Each table will be preset with terrain at the start of the tournament, where possible players will be allocated to tables that they have yet to play on.
11. All figures must be representative and painted and based to an acceptable standard.
Game Start Time and Duration
12. Players must be present and ready to start the match at the appointed time. Where a player has a reasonable excuse for arriving late the match start will be delayed by up to 30 minutes. After which time the effected player will be awarded a bye. No player will be awarded more than one bye for any reason. A bye will carry 32 points.
13. If a player resigns from a game at any stage after the first set up dice have been rolled their opponents will be awarded maximum points, and they will be awarded 0 points.
14. When time is called, play will continue until the end of the turn of the player who moved second, such that both players will have had an equal number of turns. Play will stop immediately before the joint action phase following this.
15. Game lengths will be 2 and a half hours plus a 1–15 minute random factor. The random factor will be determined by the umpire prior to the start of the round, and will not be revealed until the announcement is made. Players may always commence games earlier than the stated time by mutual consent.
The Draw
16. A modified Swiss Chess system will operate throughout the competition. Players may not play against fellow club players in the first 2 rounds, nor players whom they have played in earlier rounds, nor against any relatives in the first degree of consanguinity. Thus a player cannot be matched against his/her spouse, parent, brother, sister, and/or child.
17. Where possible the draw will be such that axis vs allied games are maximised but it is more than likely that some blue on blue games will occur.
Scoring
18. The scoring system will be a derivative of the Flames of War system, details below:
If the game is won then the winner scores
the FoW score for the game multiplied by 3.
if the game is either a fair fight or an attacker win add 1 point if one third of the defenders platoons have been destroyed
if the game is a defender win add 1 point if none of the objectives were contested at the end of the game
if the winner breaks the enemy force add a total of 2 points (the 1 point bonuses are not cumulative)
The loser scores
21 points minus the winners score
If the game is drawn each player scores
their FoW score for the game multiplied by 3.
if no objectives on the enemy side of the table are contested at the end of the game then deduct 1 point
if both objectives on the enemy side of the table are contested at the end of the game then add 1 point
N.B. the total score in a drawn game will not add up to 21, the absolute maximum score would be 10-10
